A simple and fun way to breathe new life into the old sofa is to unleash your creativity and paint organic patterns with textile markers in matching colors. We chose a muted color scheme with brown and black, which we then matched with legs in the same shade. But why not choose a more colorful palette? Only the imagination sets the limits!
New legs literally give the sofa a lift. Choose the height, color, and material of the legs that suit your needs. For example, for a low lounge sofa - choose legs such as Prettypegs sofa legs Otto 100, and for a higher seat height - Prettypegs Carl 170. All Prettypegs wooden legs are also made from FSC-certified ash wood, which means that the wood comes from responsible forestry that takes into account both people and the environment.

This is what you need to hack your IKEA sofa:
A second-hand sofa. We chose a second-hand Söderhamn sofa from IKEA.
Textile markers resistant to machine washing. We found ours at Clas Ohlson in Sweden.
Prettypegs furniture legs. In the first photo, we chose Carl 120 sofa Legs in teak finish to achieve that relaxed living room vibe. In the second photo, we chose the Carl 170 in black for a more sophisticated look.
How to:
Test painting the patterns. You may try painting on an old sheet to find the pattern that you like before you get loose on your sofa.
The Centropen markers do not require the use of an iron. Just let them dry for 12 hours. They can also be machine washed at 60°.
Attach the legs easily with the supplied M8 bolt. For sofas that do not have pre-threaded 8mm holes, choose our universal fitting that you can easily attach to the wooden frame of the sofa with the supplied wood screw.

How do you add legs to a sofa?
Most sofas can be lifted by mounting new legs with an M8 bolt in existing threaded holes. If your sofa has no pre-threaded 8 mm holes, use a universal fitting and fasten it to the wooden frame with the supplied screws.
How do you choose the right sofa leg height?
Choose leg height based on your preferred seat level. For a lower lounge feeling, Otto 100 at 100 mm is a good fit. For a higher seat height, Carl 170 creates a more upright sitting position.
Can you paint patterns on a fabric sofa?
Organic patterns can be drawn directly on sofa fabric with textile markers. Testing on an old sheet first helps you refine the pattern and color combination before painting your actual sofa.
Is textile marker ink on sofa fabric washable?
Centropen textile markers should dry for 12 hours and do not require ironing. After drying, the fabric can be machine washed at 60°.
How do you install sofa legs without threaded holes?
If a sofa lacks pre-threaded 8 mm holes, attach a universal fitting to the wooden frame using the supplied screws, then mount the leg using the matching M8 bolt.
