Makeovers are always exciting, but being a handy and creative artist makes the experience and result even more interesting.
Check out this amazing handpainted item transformed by Sara: the subtle colours from Sadolin and the smooth swirls are in contrast with the sharp Ikea cabinet lines. They make us think of a rainy afternoon on a warm Summer day. Let it rain!
DO IT YOURSELF
Step 1: Sara made a quick sketch in InDesign first, to get an idea of how the cabinet would look like with the different colours. The little owner wanted the legs to be with stripes at first, but in the end chose Boo them to be without, so we kept them raw :)
Step 2: Before she started off painting the whole cabinet, Sara made the pattern out of cardboard first, so she could use this as a template to draw the shapes. She put down the closet on the ground first, replaced the old doors with new "raw" onces, and started sketching the pattern onto the cabinet.
Tip: Don't forget to prepare the furniture before adding the paint: grind, wipe, grind, wipe off and then paint with the chosen colours, preferably add two layers of paint.

So this is one gal that likes to get her hands dirty and then add some sparkle to her projects. Passionate about DIY and fixer-uppers (that’s where almost 10 years of blogging will get you), Sara finds her inspirations in bringing dull pieces to life. And she is not shy to let her inner painter come out and play!
